Did you just recently schedule an appointment to undergo breast enhancement surgery? Regardless of whether you are going overs or unders, saline or silicone, recovery time is important. In fact, your cosmetic surgeon should provide you with a set of post-surgery directions for you to follow. Do you know just how important it is that you follow those directions?
Remember, your breasts are now larger and tighter and have experienced trauma. Each surgeon has instructions tailored to his or her patient. Some want you to wear a sports bra, some don’t want you to wear a bra at all. Some want you to massage, others want them to drop on their own. Still others will tell you not to work out for 3 to 6 months.
Regardless, you will need someone to help you out from anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. You may have a hard time lifting your arms to wash your hair or even cook, so get a tusted friend of family member to help you out. If you received unders, your surgeon had to do more “damage” getting through the muscle, and he will want to make sure the muscle is healing properly.
Your friend of family member needs to track when to take your medication. This includes antibiotics as well as pain medicine to control your pain. You may also be a bit constipated from the anesthesia and the pain medication so you might have more pills to take.
Recovery is important with breast implants, because unlike gastric bypass or liposuction, beautiful and large breasts are your goal. Where others surgery takes away, implants are adding. Your surgeon will want to make sure the implant settles in the pocket, that the incisions heal properly and that they are draining properly. He will also want to give your breasts time to heel so they do not bottom out or heel improperly.
At first, your breasts will be high and tight. You will be surprises what they look like. Over time, depending on the strength of your muscles, the implant will drop into its pocket and give you the full shapely breasts you wanted. You will also have to get used to the implants effects on your nipples. They may stay erect for quite a long time until the pressure on the nerve goes down.
Either way, after a few weeks, your breasts will start to look like you imagine and you will have the full breasts you want. Eventually, your surgeon will tell you, you can start wearing a bra which when the fun comes. Ask your surgeon to help measure to determine proper bra size and then you can start trying bras on. It will be a little harder to find bras at first but over time you will know what brands you like and why.
